Ăn thêm đi con

A summer trip to Vietnam, two grandmas, a grandson who eats everything, and some squirrels in the garden.

The trip to Vietnam this summer was a success, at least from the point of view of the grandmas. They got to see their grandson, who, weirdly enough, showed them more affection than the ones that are in Vietnam. The grandson would happily eat whatever they cooked (they do not cook often, their family complaining about the food). He even said “Bà nấu ngon mà”; perhaps nobody had said that to her for a very long time.

I myself did not understand the attachment to food, always “Ăn thêm đi con”, and the like. But then I looked at the squirrels in the garden. When they ate, they looked happy, and I felt warm in the heart; perhaps that’s how we looked to the grandmas, and how they felt as well.

Nothing further on file.
